Wishing Well

(2025)
micro-FM radio station
Skowhegan, Maine

Wishing Well was a participatory radio work I did with Lara Castro Lema: Over nine weeks we invited stories of unrequited love from the Skowhegan community, transformed them into sounds, and returned them in an intimate one-night transmission from the well. 60 people gathered on blankets in the nearby field, listening together in the spirit of shared romance.

well radio was a micro-FM radio station that operated from an old spring well on the grounds of Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture. Reviving the well’s role as a site of gathering and gossip, it hosted improvised chats, readings, songs, and collective listening throughout the summer 2025.

if i had to tell you about the nine weeks in skowhegan in just one hour ~~ I’d start with love radio from the wishing well ~~ when everyone laid on blankets ~ and listened to each others heartbreak stories ~ sounds of crushing on each other ~ through the little radios~~ and the moon went up ~ and there was so much love.
