Wishing Well
(2025)micro-FM radio station
Skowhegan, Maine
Wishing Well was a participatory radio work I did with Lara Castro Lema: Over nine weeks we invited stories of unrequited love from the Skowhegan community, transformed them into sounds, and returned them in an intimate one-night transmission from an old spring well. 60 people gathered on blankets in the nearby field, listening together in the spirit of shared romance.
well radio was a micro-FM radio station that operated from a well on the grounds of Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture. Reviving the well’s role as a site of gathering and gossip, it hosted whispers, readings, improvised songs, and collective listening throughout the summer 2025. With its short range and fragile signal, well radio emphasized proximity, attentiveness, and the intimacy of listening together.
