Waterfall Tongue
USF Visningsrommet, March 2025
Waterfall Tongue was a collaboration between tinja ruusuvuori and gentian rhosa. The exhibition explored themes of grief, rage and voiceless through the act of cross-border communication by screaming into waterfalls. The artists considered the social and gendered conditions that limit loud expressions of rage and sorrow, finding allyship with the waterfall as a sonic environment charged with movement and power, where the screaming voice can find release.
The exhibition included a public screaming workshop with hardcore vocalist Oda Braanaas, where we learned to care for our throats in a long-term grief and to scream together in a sustainable way.
